Feet can Tell a Story

By Nancy Dean      Grades: 1 - 2

Concept: Students will understand why birds feet are like they are and how they are used to help the birds survive.

Exploring Clouds

By Jan vanesse    Grades 1 - 2

Concept: Students will know that different types of clouds help predict the weather.

Are Mittens Warm?

By Angela Pirtle        Grades: 2 - 3

Concept: Mittens act as insulaotrs to keep hands warm.

Thumbs

By Donna Massin       Grade: 4th

Concept: Thumbs are an important human adaptation that gives us an advantage over most other animals

Senses

By Ida Murray          Grades: 3 - 4

Concept: Human and animals use their senses to survive.

Comparing Friction

By Patty Brown        Grade 5 - 6

Concept: Friction varies with type of surface

By Connie Tracy       Grade: 6th

Concept: Students will recognize and identify some plants from their local ecosystem, including plant signs during the non-growing seasons.

The Rubber Egg

By Clyde Lee        Grade 7/8

Concept: Osmosis is the diffusion of water.

Defensible Spaces

By Gary Walker        Grade 6 - 8

Concept: Students will describe and understand the importance of defensible spaces around homes or cabins.

Impact Craters

By Kendra Miller-Jones        Grade 6 - 8

Concept: Craters of different dimensions are formed from the kinetic energy of falling objects acting on different materials.

Adaptations

By Emily Roseberry       Grade: 7 - 9

Concept: Living things have special adaptations for survival

Friction

By Ben Collman       Grade: 9th

Concept: Friction is a force that opposes relative motion (sliding) between two surfaces. The size of the friction force is (nearly) independent of the surface area of contact. The size of the friction force between two surfaces is proportional to the force with which the two surfaces are pressed together. The nature of the surfaces in contact can also affect the size of the friction force.

By Susan Fredrickson       Grade 9 - 10

Concept: All organisms need nitrogen to build proteins, which are used to build new cells. Plants that do not have nitrogen-fixing bacteria in their roots must get nitrogen from the soil, or die.

By Chris Backstrum       Grade 9 - 10

Concept: Density is a dimension that can be used to identify elements, compounds, and minerals with known chemical formulas.
